What is a BER?
A Building Energy Rating (BER) certificate rates your home’s energy performance on a scale between A and G.
A-rated homes are the most energy efficient while G-rated are the least energy efficient.
When do you require a BER?
A Building Energy Rating (BER) is required if a building is offered for sale or for rent.
If you plan on selling or renting a property a Building Energy Rating (BER) is required.
An updated BER cert is also required to avail of SEAI home improvement grants.
A BER certificate indicates your building’s energy performance. It is similar to the energy label for household appliances.
